Catalog for the 33rd San Diego Latino Film Festival

Media Arts Center San Diego, a nonprofit organization, was entering its 33rd year producing the San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF). Following the selection of the winning poster design, the next step was to bring the festival’s visual identity to life in the festival catalog.

approach

Having designed the SDLFF catalogs in 2023 and 2024, I saw an opportunity to move beyond a visual system that had remained largely unchanged for nearly a decade. While the established template helped meet the festival’s notoriously tight deadlines, yearly changes to fonts and colors did little to shift the overall look. By 2026, my familiarity with the content allowed me to work more efficiently and move beyond the existing framework, introducing a more contemporary direction.
